Being Sociological Mindful means you are aware that your actions influence the world as one. With that in mind a perfect example would be community service. Many people “donate” hours of their day to do things just for the good of others because that gives them satisfaction. However, they don’t know that they are not just helping people with needs. They are influencing people around them with their help and influencing others to do as they do. Last semester I started working on community service for a class. I never realized it would be so rewarding to me. I knew I would help whoever needed help, but I wasn’t thinking on what they would give back to me or how I could influence others. After the hours I did and after last week of sociology it hit me: I had influenced many people around me. Those who I helped were happy and got some of their needs taken cared of. My friends when they saw I volunteered started to think about volunteering too. It doesn’t end here though. More people need to open their minds to sociological imagination and mindfulness. That way the world can become more united.
Good for you! Sounds sociologically mindful to me :-)
