Being Sociological Mindful means you are aware that your actions influence the world as one. With that in mind a perfect example would be community service. Many people “donate” hours of their day to do things just for the good of others because that gives them satisfaction. However, they don’t know that they are not just helping people with needs. They are influencing people around them with their help and influencing others to do as they do. Last semester I started working on community service for a class. I never realized it would be so rewarding to me. I knew I would help whoever needed help, but I wasn’t thinking on what they would give back to me or how I could influence others. After the hours I did and after last week of sociology it hit me: I had influenced many people around me. Those who I helped were happy and got some of their needs taken cared of. My friends when they saw I volunteered started to think about volunteering too. It doesn’t end here though. More people need to open their minds to sociological imagination and mindfulness. That way the world can become more united.

This is who i am.
For those who want to know.. and I know you all do.. I was born Feb 3rd of 1994 in a well-known city: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of 12, I moved to the States knowing little English, but with the help of teachers, parents, and myself I was able to achieve long and short term goals I had in mind. Since I’m from Brazil, of course I love soccer. I have played it all my life and I love to watch it too. After I moved to the United States, I started watching more basketball and started to like it. Now, every Friday I go play with some friends. It is easy to realize how society is different in every country because of different cultures. I lived in Brazil and grew up with soccer, so I love soccer. Then I moved here and saw basketball all around, so now I love basketball too. I’ve been influenced by society all my life. So have all of us. However, I do tend to criticize society sometimes for the some values taught to us that I don’t necessarily agree with. For my future I plan to help the world as much as I can. Specially poverty. I think poverty isn’t someone’s choice. They shouldn’t be penalized for where they grew up and the conditions they grew up in. Some of them have no choice and kids are suffering. My goal is to help them. All around the world. With whatever I can and however I can. Also, I believe that teens around the world aren’t doing as much as they can to help. I believe that should change and will over time to make the planet more united. This is how I am. This is who I am.
